Be a Better Friend Challenge
7 Days of Connection
Tisha B'Av reminds us of the power of our relationships—how easily disconnection happens and how desperately we need to rebuild unity. This week is the perfect time to strengthen the bonds that matter most.
Strong friendships—whether with friends or siblings—don't happen by accident. They're built through intentional actions: listening, including, apologizing, helping. Small gestures of kindness and consideration create the foundation of real connection.
The Simple Solution: 7-Day Friend Challenge
What You'll Need:
How It Works: Each day this week, your child completes one specific friendship action:
- Compliment a friend - Say something genuine and specific
- Listen without interrupting - Give full attention when someone talks
- Include someone - Invite someone who's usually left out to join
- Make amends - Apologize or fix something with a friend
- Help without asking - Do something kind without being asked
- Speak kindly - Say something good about someone to others
- Do an anonymous kindness - Leave a surprise note or small gesture for a friend
As your child checks off each day, they're building habits of connection that last. Whether the challenge is most needed with a sibling who's been tricky lately or a friendship that could use some attention, this week is the perfect time to strengthen where it matters most.

Working Out |
|
Let's work this one out. Is exercise a non-negotiable in your life, or is it the first thing that gets bumped when things get busy? And if you do make it happen—when? |

I do Jewish Zumba for a year now and I am addicted. Exercise has more health benefits if it's fun, says Professor Me. -Anonymous
I live half an hour from my job and I walk both ways.
-Esty S.
As a girl I used to go to exercise classes twice a week for an hour. B"H I have other priorities now, I have an 8 minute video of great exercise and it takes me 15 min including a shower. I try waking up 15 minutes early for it, sometimes I just do it at night. My goal is to do it at least 5x a week. It's not much, but investing in health is important! -Yitty Mehring
If I find some time to exercise (or I'm desperate enough to put my body back in shape) it will usually be at night, after everyone is sleeping. I do 12 different stretches, each 30 seconds long. It is simple and only takes 7 minutes of my time, but I feel like a different person. It comes along with very clear instructions and even a music track. As a side benefit, it's also helpful for weight loss. You can request the handout with instructions and the music track for free here: mechon.a.mechayeh@gmail.com.

Challenge: binary / dioxide / twilight Look out for the answer in tomorrow’s edition
Thursday's challenge: A man wants to get into an exclusive club but doesn’t know the password. One man approaches the door and the doorman says 12, so the woman says 6, and is let in. Another man walks up and the doorman says 6, so the woman says 3, and is let in. Thinking he’s figured it out, the man walks up to the door, and the doorman says 10, so he says 5 but isn’t let in. What should he have said? Thursday's answer: 3. The code for the door is the number of letters in the number the doorman says.

Bouncy Bubbles
I saw this idea floating around and was honestly pretty skeptical. But one hot day I decided to give it a try—and wow, were we in for a surprise! So much fun!
What You'll Need:
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons dishwashing soap
- 2 tablespoons corn syrup
- Container
- Bubble wand
- Cotton gloves (winter gloves work well)
How to Make It:
Combine water, dishwashing soap, and corn syrup in a container, mixing well. Here's the magic step: refrigerate for at least 1 hour before using. This gives the mixture time to chill and work its bouncy bubble magic!
Keep the mixture well combined—if it settles while you're using it, give it another stir before blowing more. Blow your bubbles just like you would with regular bubble solution.
Hand your little kids the cotton gloves and they can gently bat the bubbles around, and instead of bursting into sad, popped disappointment, they bounce right back. It's pure enchantment!
Some bubbles will still pop right away—completely normal. But many will bounce, and the novelty is absolutely thrilling for kids. Here's what we discovered: the gloves are essential! Without them, the bubbles pop instantly. But with those cotton gloves on? That's when the magic truly happens!
Try this one out and let us know how it goes! We'd love to hear your bouncy bubble success stories!
